Description
The great ecoregion of Chaco, Chiquitania, Pantanal and Southern Amazon of Bolivia, is one of the most threatened by large-scale deforestation, fires and unregulated mining. This project seeks to consolidate the protection of clue natural ecosystems and resources, also the possibility of ensuring to the future the unavailable indigenous cultures of the region, this projet seeks the conservation of biodiversity, and the continuity of evolutionary ecological processes in nature.
These will be achieved through consolidation of conservation corridors between existing protected areas, as well as indigenous territories. This vision implies placing emphasis on capacity building and strengthening of the Protected Areas Management local Committees and leaderships of indigenous Territories and Local Communities.
Complementary tasks will focus on the implementation of ecological monitoring innovative technologies and early warning in situations of threats due to clearing, burning, poaching, illegal mining and other factors that alter ecosystems. These means, the strength capacities of the personnel of the Protected and conserved Areas, involving local representations. It is important the formation of technical teams of young people from the indigenous Territories, in the use of digital technologies for monitoring, cartographic management, communications, establishment of news dissemination systems, exchange of experiences, exchange of information and methodologies at the regional level.
This proposal is generated with a vision for the consolidation of conservation corridors between existing units of different categories of protection and management (such as protected areas of different character and administration, as well as indigenous territories) that are located to the east of the Department of Santa Cruz - Bolivia, consolidating over time a great connected geographical mosaic that allows greater opportunities for the continuity of the evolutionary ecological processes in Nature and the conservation of biodiversity.
The proposal includes the generation of capacities of the personnel of the Protected Areas, and the formation of technical teams of young people from the Indigenous Territories, in the management of digital technologies for monitoring, cartographic management, communications, establishment of news dissemination systems, exchange of experiences, exchange of information, data and methodologies at the regional level.
The implementation of ecological monitoring technologies and early warning in situations of threats due to clearing, burning, hunting of wildlife, illegal mining and other factors that alter ecosystems are also proposed. We believe that with this impulse, the possibility and opportunity for continuity of the various conservation and management units present in this great geographic mosaic will increase in the future.
